We are looking to recruit a Technical Administrator, mainly to be involved in the sales process but also other general admin tasks. On the sales-side the main function would be to analyse enquiries received through our website and make the initial calls to find out the details of the potential hydropower site. For sites that have potential there is normally an ongoing dialogue over several weeks about how the site could be developed and the likely energy generation potential and the costs. If the enquirer is interested in progressing the project we have a structured set of services that we sell them, starting with a pre-feasibility study, then more advanced feasibility studies, environmental licensing, system design and finally installation. Hydro projects normally happen over two years, so understandably clients take several weeks to decide to proceed and have lots of questions.
The main purpose of this role is manage the enquiries, quickly eliminate unsuitable sites and then provide all of the information necessary to secure the sale of our initial feasibility studies. Hydro engineers will be available to answer the deeper technical questions, but the technical administrator would be expected to answer the more routine queries and gather all of the required information and produce the Order Confirmation paperwork for the customer. Renewables First uses web-based marketing and CRM systems, so the applicant must be confident with modern IT systems.
The applicant does not need to be an experienced engineer because they will be supported by a team of engineers, but they will need good numeracy and communication skills, common sense and the ability to understand what the enquirer is describing over the phone and respond knowledgeably. Also commercial skills (i.e. is happy to discuss prices and payment terms etc.) and good written skills for emailing enquirers and putting together Order Confirmation paperwork. The job will be most attractive to anyone with a genuine interest and enthusiasm for renewable energy, particularly small-scale hydropower.
The job will be part time and the hours can be agreed, though a regular pattern of working would be preferred. Initially the workload will be around 8 hrs per week, but will grow over the next six months to be around 3 days per week. The post will be working from our office in Brimscombe, Stroud.
Salary £8.21 per hour (£16k per year pro rata). The role would qualify for our Employee Incentive Scheme.
Pro rata holidays (20 days per year, plus bank holidays pro rata).
If you are interested please use our enquiry form and select 'Job applicant' from the 'Organisation type' drop-down list, plus fill in all of the other contact fields. Enter a brief description of why you think you would be good at the job. If you look suitable we will get in touch directly and ask for a full CV. Applications close on the 24th February.
