Hydropower Grid Connection Permission
The electrical connection is often overlooked but is vitally important; it doesn’t matter how good a hydropower site is if the energy generated cannot be exported into the distribution network.
Permission to grid connect must therefore be secured early during the project.
Renewables First has the electrical engineering expertise in-house to deal with the Distribution Network Operator to determine if the local grid is electrically strong enough to accept the proposed electricity export and if not find out what upgrades would be required and at what cost.
We are familiar with low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) grid connections up to 33 kV. We can also specify the on-site electrical distribution system between the point of generation and the grid connection point, which can be a physically long distance at some sites. Our knowledge and experience of constructing on-site electrical distribution means that we can speak the same language as the Distribution Network Operator to ensure the most cost effective grid connection solution for our client.
For sites with significant on-site electrical demands we can make sure that the proposed grid connection enables you to use as much of the energy as possible on-site, which will maximise your return on investment in the project.
Are you considering a hydropower project ?
The first step to develop any hydropower site is to conduct a full feasibility study.
