Hydropower projects require various consents from different bodies:
Planning Permission from the Local Authority prior to building the project, Environmental Consents from the local Environmental licensing organising in order to operate the project, Grid Connection Permission to be able to link the system to the distribution network and Feed-in-Tariff Pre & Post Accreditation in order to be paid for the electricity produced.
Whatever scale hydro project you will need to have secured planning permission. Renewables First have extensive experience gaining planning permission throughout the UK.
Hydro power projects require consent from environmental regulators to operate. Renewables First have extensive experience of securing licences from these regulators.
You will need to obtain permission to grid-connect the hydro turbine from the local Distributed Network Operator and will only grant permission if the grid is suitable.
In order to generate income the project will require Ofgem Feed in Tariff accreditation, commissioning and G59 testing.
